These terms govern your use of StripBack ("we", "us", "our") and our website at stripback.app. By signing up, you agree to these terms.

StripBack is currently operated as a sole trader by Jules Hitchcock, based in Plymouth, UK. Contact: hello@stripback.app.

1. What StripBack does

StripBack monitors UK government regulatory feeds (gov.uk, HSE, FSA, MHCLG) for your chosen niche, translates new regulations into plain English, lets you scan compliance documents to extract deadlines, tracks your renewal reminders, writes you a personalised plain-English compliance brief each morning, and contacts your tradespeople for certificate renewals via email and SMS when you opt in.

StripBack provides regulatory information, not legal advice. AI-generated summaries are best-effort plain-English translations of source material. For critical compliance decisions, always verify against the original source document linked in each summary. You remain responsible for your own compliance.

2. Coverage

We monitor a curated set of UK government feeds for your selected niche (Property, Hospitality, or Trades). We aim to surface every change that affects you, but we cannot guarantee comprehensive coverage of every regulatory update. Use StripBack as one input alongside any other compliance resources you rely on.

Prices are inclusive of UK VAT where applicable. Plan features and limits are listed on the pricing section of stripback.app. We reserve the right to change prices with at least 30 days' notice; existing subscribers keep their current price for the duration of their paid period.

4. Billing and cancellation

Billing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Your subscription auto-renews at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, depending on the plan you selected) at the then-current price. You will be charged automatically unless you cancel before the end of the current period. Stripe will email you a receipt for each renewal.
30-day money-back guarantee. Within your first 30 days, you can request a full refund by emailing hello@stripback.app — no questions asked. We will process the refund within 7 working days.
After 30 days, you can cancel at any time via the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation stops your subscription from auto-renewing; you'll retain access until the end of your current paid period. We do not refund partial months.
Upgrades and downgrades take effect immediately, with prorated billing handled by Stripe.
If your subscription payment fails, we will retry per Stripe's standard cadence. If it ultimately fails, your account will be paused (data retained) until you update payment.

5. Account access

Access is via email-based authentication. There is no password. Your session is maintained by a signed cookie that expires after 30 days, after which you'll need to log in again with your email.

Keep your email account secure. Anyone with access to your email can log into StripBack. We recommend enabling two-factor authentication on your email account.

6. Documents and your data

Documents you upload to the Document Vault remain your property.
We store them in Supabase Storage (EU region, encrypted at rest).
We process your document content, reminders, and business profile through our AI provider (Anthropic) to extract dates, produce plain-English summaries, and write your personalised daily letter and tracker brief. Anthropic does not use your data to train its models.
Documents remain in your Vault until you delete them or close your account.
You can share documents externally via 30-day expiring links that you generate from within the app.

7. Auto-Chaser tradesperson contact

When you arm Auto-Chaser on a reminder, StripBack will email (and optionally SMS) the tradesperson you've assigned, 30, 14, and 7 days before the certificate expires.

By using Auto-Chaser, you confirm:

You have a legitimate business relationship with that tradesperson
You consent to StripBack contacting them on your behalf
The contact details you've provided are accurate and authorised for this use

We store tradesperson contact details only as needed to deliver these emails. We do not market to them, share them with third parties, or use them for any purpose other than the Auto-Chaser feature you've armed.

8. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

Upload files outside the allowed types (PDF, JPG, PNG, WEBP)
Upload anything containing malware, illegal content, or other people's private data without their consent
Abuse rate limits (daily scan quotas, etc.) — we reserve the right to throttle or pause accounts that exceed reasonable usage
Resell, repackage, or rebrand StripBack's output as a competing service
Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract data from the application
Use StripBack to facilitate or commit fraud, deception, or any illegal activity

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms, with a refund of any unused paid period.

9. Account deletion and data export

To delete your account and all associated data, email hello@stripback.app. We will:

Cancel any active subscription
Delete your reminders, documents, profile, and other personal data within 7 working days
Retain minimal billing records for 6 years as required by UK tax law (anonymised where possible)

Before deletion, you can request a data export. Email us at hello@stripback.app and we will provide a downloadable archive of your reminders, uploaded documents, and contractor contact details within 7 working days, at no cost. This is your data — you can take it with you.

10. Liability

StripBack is provided on an "as is" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by UK law:

We are not liable for any compliance failure, fine, or regulatory penalty incurred by you, including any that result from missed deadlines, incorrect AI translations, or feeds we did not surface to you.
We are not liable for any failure of email or SMS delivery to you or to your tradespeople.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages, including loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of opportunity.
Our total cumulative liability to you, for any cause, is capped at the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law.

Always verify critical compliance information against the original source. StripBack is a tool to help you stay on top of your obligations — it is not a substitute for professional legal or compliance advice.

11. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible. Unplanned outages are resolved as quickly as we can. We do not offer service credits for downtime.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as our service evolves. Material changes will be emailed to active subscribers at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of StripBack after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms. If you do not accept the new terms, you may cancel under section 4.

13. Privacy

How we handle your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of StripBack will be heard in the courts of England and Wales.
